Before
visiting our store you may wish to make yourself familiar with the
different types of mantels and cabinets that are available below:
|
| |
|
Facemount Mantels: Facemount Mantels were traditionally used with
wood burning inserts, however today many people
have upgraded there wood burning inserts with
propane B-Vent or Direct Vent Inserts. Another
reason why Facemount Mantels are so popular is
because many new home owners are building wall
cavities (boxes that are built on the outside
of a house which are sided, insulated and
shingled) to accommodate the depth required to
install a propane or electric fireplace.
This means larger size cabinets are not
necessary (although some people still prefer
cabinets because they allow for more decorating
space and may mean less tear up in an existing home). |

|
|
Flatwall Cabinets: A Flatwall Cabinet is typically used in an
existing home. In an existing home many
people do not wish to build walls to accommodate
a propane or electric fireplace (unless they are
already planning on doing other renovation work), so a better option may be to use a
flatwall cabinet which holds the entire propane
or electric fireplace on the flat wall.
Typically propane fireplaces are direct vented
off the back, through an outside wall. If
in a basement a top shelf or vent cover may be
necessary to vent up and out on the flat wall
(to hide the venting). All of our flatwall
cabinets are typically sold with matching tiled
bases. |

Corner Cabinets: A Corner Cabinet is typically used in an
existing home. In an existing home many
people do not wish to build walls to accommodate
a propane or electric fireplace (unless they are
already planning on doing other renovation
work), so a better option may be to use a corner
cabinet which holds the entire propane or
electric fireplace in the corner of a room.
Typically propane fireplaces are direct vented
off the back, through an outside wall. If
in a basement a top shelf may be necessary to
vent up and out in the corner (to hide the
venting). All of our corner cabinets are
typically sold with matching tiled bases. |
