This unit is suitable for heating of rooms and open concept areas measuring 490 square feet or less. This unit is especially popular in tight corners, condominiums and Victorian style homes. We currently stock two separate face plates for this unit (the Drake and Arched Prairie). The minimum framing dimension for this unit is 32.625" x 19.75" x 14.875 (H x W x D). This unit requires a minimum platform of 19.75" x 14.875" (W x D). I definitely recommend this unit for smaller corner applications and / or recessed wall applications.

The Thief River Falls (56701) is one of the newest additions to the Kozy Heat family of fireplaces. It provides spectacular flames and extraordinary heat and is the most efficient Kozy Heat model we carry (based on EnerGuide ratings). It's EnerGuide (P4) rating is 66.87% and it's steady state efficiency is 82%. This model features a rustic log set and standard refractory lining. With over 900 sq. inches of viewing area, it is sure to create a strong statement. This fireplace produces up to 28,000 BTU's of heat and is P4 (EnerGuide) approved. Common Terms Related to Propane Fireplaces

Single Sided Propane Fireplace: This fireplace is commonly used within a wall cavity referred to as a "dog house" (a wall cavity or box that is built on the outside of the house which is sided, vapour barriered, insulated and shingled). These fireplaces may also be built into a false flatwall or corner wall (a wall cavity that is built within a pre-existing room to house the fireplace). However, in an existing house, many people do not wish to build walls to accommodate a propane fireplace, so a better option may be to use a flatwall or corner cabinet. In this scenario we take care of the complete fireplace installation for you. Single sided fireplaces are usually vented directly through an outside wall (off the back or top of the unit), however they may also be vented through the roof. In some cases special adapters may also be purchased to permit fireplaces to be vented through a chimney using co-linear liners - like propane inserts.

Wall Mounted Propane Fireplace: This type of fireplace is only recently available to the market in propane. Now customers with an outside wall who do not wish to build wall cavities or have cabinets may simply have a fireplace directly mounted / hung on a wall. These units are not recessed in the wall and feature the latest technology in the industry (i.e. electronic ignition, smart controls, convection heat).

See-thru Propane Fireplace: This type of fireplace is usually used between two rooms such as a living room and family room or ensuite and bedroom. These units are partially contained within an interior wall, however because of the depth of the units (approx. 23") and the depth of the average wall (approx. 4"), these units must be contained on at least one side by either a flatwall cabinet or a false wall. Each side of these units produce heat and in some cases may be dressed with separate features. See-thru fireplaces may be vented directly off the side for immediate termination and/or off the top for up-and-out termination and/or off the top for through the roof termination.

Two-Sided Corner Propane Fireplace: This type of fireplaces offers a two-sided, corner configuration, facing the left (CL) or right (CR). With an exceptional glass viewing area on two sides and an intense flame presentation this type of fireplace produces great heat circulation. Thus type of unit is known for high heat output and may be vented directly off the side for immediate termination and/or off the top for up-and-out termination and/or off the top for through the roof termination.

Peninsula/Pier Propane Fireplace: This type of fireplaces offers a three-sided viewing area and is popular for use as a room divider between kitchens and living rooms amongst other configurations. This type of unit offers maximum glass viewing area on three sides and usually provides intense heat circulation. This type of unit is known for high heat output and may be vented directly off the back for immediate termination and/or off the top for up-and-out termination and/or off the top for through the roof termination.
