Propane Inserts
(for masonry / non-combustible openings only) |

The Valor Adorn (922ECP) is a single sided
B-Vent propane insert. This insert is probably one
of the smallest, if not the smallest propane insert in the world.
This unit requires a masonry opening (or a zero clearance box) of
just 22.125" x 17.75" x 11" (H x W x D). This unit is ideal
for converting small coal or wood burning masonry fireplaces into
propane. This unit features an open flame (no glass needed),
glowing coal effect fireplace bed, an attractive flame guard, and a
wireless remote control to adjust heat and flame. This unit is
made of cast iron. This unit is
only available in B-Vent. Many fronts are available such as
the 549AFB (Windsor Black), 549AFP (Windsor Polished) and the 923ACF
(Adorn) as shown. |

The Legend G3 (738BVP) is a single sided B-Vent
propane fireplace insert. It is shown here with a 741SVI
contemporary black front with a three sided 746CTK trim. This
unit produces up to 24,000 BTU's of heat and may be turned down to
13,000 BTU's right from the deluxe remote (included with unit). This
unit also features a heat exchanger system which eliminates the need
for noisy fans. When the power fails you will not lose any of
your heating efficiency, unlike models that require fans, whereas
this system does not require electricity. This unit comes with
a programmable remote with built in timer function (can turn on
automatically each morning at a specified time). This unit
also features a modulating fire that turns down for maximum control.
This unit is suitable for heating of rooms and open concept areas
measuring 800 square feet or less. The minimum cavity
dimension for this unit is 20.125" x 28.25" x 12.5" (H x W x D). |

The Legend G3 (739ILP) is a single sided
Direct Vent
propane insert. Although it looks like the
B-Vent unit above, it is not the same (it
is a different engine that uses the same trims).
This direct vent unit, now comes with electronic ignition (which means no standing
pilot for a savings of $1 a day per usage).
It is also 4.3% more EnerGuide efficient
compared to its B-Vent equivalent and does not
use pre-heated air from your room for
combustion. It is shown here with a 741SVI
contemporary black front and a three sided
746CTK trim. This
unit produces up to 24,000 BTU's of heat and may be turned down to
13,000 BTU's from the deluxe remote (included with unit). This

The Legend G4 (780IP) is a single sided
Direct Vent
propane insert. It is considered the "big
brother" to the highly successful Legend G3. This unit
feature a large glass which starts almost at the

means no standing pilot for a savings of $1 a
day per usage). It is shown here
with a square black trim kit (791STB) and a
ledgestone liner (786LSL). This

14,500 BTU's (nearly 50%) from the deluxe thermostatic remote (included with unit). This
fireplace also features a heat exchanger system which
eliminates the need for noisy fans. When
the power fails you will not lose any of your
heating efficiency, unlike models that require

less. The minimum cavity dimension for
this unit is 23" x 33" x 15" (H x W x

Common Terms Related to Propane
Inserts |
|
|
|
B-Vent Propane Insert:
This type of fireplace is most commonly installed in a
masonry fireplace opening or in a zero clearance box. This
fireplace is typically a retrofit option for those
considering replacing old, inefficient wood burning
fireplaces. A B-Vent Propane Insert uses air from inside the
room for combustion and exhausts it through a chimney liner
(usually 3" or 4") that is installed through an existing
masonry chimney (or in some instances through a
pre-fabricated chimney). Sometimes B-Vent Propane Inserts
are referred to as conventional vented inserts. Typically
this type of insert is cheaper than other alternatives and
fits more applications.
Direct Vent (co-linear) Propane Insert:
This type of fireplace is most commonly installed in a
masonry fireplace opening or in a zero clearance box. This
fireplace is typically a retrofit option for those
considering replacing old, inefficient wood burning
fireplaces. A Direct Vent Fireplace Insert utilizes a
co-linear chimney liner (unlike a B-Vent which uses a single
liner). In a co-linear chimney liner, one liner is used to
take fresh air from outside the house, which is used for
combustion, while the second liner is used for exhaust.
Typically each liner is 3" in diameter and is installed
through an existing masonry chimney. Because a Direct Vent
Fireplace Insert requires a co-linear chimney liner it is
usually more expensive to purchase up-front, however,
because it uses outside air for combustion and because it
has a sealed chamber, it is typically much more economical
and efficient to operate. |
